If you're concerned about the guilt, stress, and fear associated with dental care, you aren't alone. Dr. Davidson and our team understand and respect each one of your concerns and encourage you to let us know how you feel. We've listened to our patients through the years, and here's how we've addressed a few of the stressful issues they've expressed.
Because the mouth is a porthole to the body, we take great precautions to ensure a clean treatment room and tools. An autoclave heats all of our reusable dental instruments to extreme temperatures, which kills germs and bacteria. The sterilized instruments are then sealed, so they stay sterile until we use them. We also disinfect all surfaces in the treatment rooms after we see a patient. This includes the dental chair, trays, countertops, and surrounding fixtures. When possible, we use disposable products, like bibs and gloves that can be thrown away. And each year, our team trains in the latest guidelines and procedures mandated by OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) and the CDC (Center for Disease Control).
Many people postpone dental care because they don't want to feel guilty. Perhaps finances, time, or fear keeps you from annual checkups and restorative dental work. Dr. Davidson wants to know what concerns you so that he can consult with you to find a solution. There is no need to feel guilty about the condition of your mouth, either. In fact, if you haven't visited the dentist in a while, and you know that you need multiple fillings or crowns, we will applaud your decision to get back on track for good oral health. And we'll work with you to find options that fit within your lifestyle and limitations.
One bad dental experience can affect a person for the rest of his life. Dental fear is a very real problem, and it keeps an astonishing number of people from seeking dental care. Dr. Davidson respects dental fear, and to help our phobic patients gain peace of mind and body, he earned his certification in sedation dentistry. Oftentimes just talking openly with Dr. Davidson and building trust can relieve dental apprehension or anxiety. However, if you think you would benefit from oral conscious sedation (comfort page) or want to learn more about this relaxing procedure, call our Libby dental office.
